Ok to access your files its easy. Click on Places –> Computer –> then click on File System. Find the Host folder and all your files from your XP install will be contained there. Just navigate like you do from within windows explorer. In essence your Host folder is your C: drive in Windows.
Now as for MS Office you can not run it from Ubuntu. Ubuntu is its own operating system just like a Mac. Windows programs won’t run in a Linux distro the same as Windows and Mac programs won’t work. There are some ways to get this working but its not always an easy task.

Just you need a codec gstreamer to play mp3 in ubuntu and the microsoft office doesnt work in ubuntu,the linux community has an alternative to office it is openoffice…..
