Ive downloaded the iso file for ubuntu and everything but always get an error or something at the kboot screen……Was I suppose to install linux or fedora first? what do i do???
i want to install either kubuntu or ubuntu but i dont want to mess with xp incase i need it still. how do you partition the drive to have both OS’s?
Im using Banshee now just to play music off my computer, but I need to sync movies/tv shows as well as music to my ipod classic. I’m running Ubuntu 7.10 on an acer aspire 5570z.
I am new to Linux and managed to break it in the first 5 minutes. I am running the 32-bit desktop version of Intrepid Ibex on a MacBook as a Parallels VM. As soon as I got it installed, I tried to adjust the resolution using the GUI utility on the System menu and it blurred everything. I can’t see anything, so I can’t change it back the same way. I need a command line method.

ok, so I downloaded Ubuntu 8.04.1 (hardy heron) and burned it to a disk with toast titanium. i load it up by holding down “c” while booting up, and I get some text. then no matter what I do, I get a white screen or a message that says “cannot allocate memory”, or “cannot allocate region of device” could anyone give me some advice?
The wireless LAN button is not even switching ‘on’ in ubuntu. Do we have to type any commands. Or is it a problem with the modem configuration?Dial-up internet thru landphone is working fine.
i don’t no to work on linux but i want to work using it. i have run the CD of ubuntu thereafter what command should I give to the black screen to start and to use its gnome and k desktop?
I’m not sure if it’s not auto detecting or what not, Where in the file directory should I look ?
When I ran knoppix it showed up on the desktop as sda1, ubuntu doesn’t even detect it for some reason. I’ve run the root commands and searched computer, I dunno whats up
I have a windows 2000 but a new generation keyboard.
i cant find where to do it at all, i use to have windows and the sound drivers wouldnt work on their either, is there anyone that can help me with this? i need to know how to get sound on Ubuntu.
