Ubuntu

I just installed the new release of Ubuntu on my laptop and now whenever I close the laptop it won’t wake back up when I want to use it again. I still want it to go into stand-by when I close the lid in order to conserve batteries, but when i open it back up it won’t wake back up. I tried pushing the power button, moving the mouse and pressing Fn+Esc – none seem to work.

Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

I tried running the newest version of Ubuntu and it ran decently well after turning the Desktop effects off but still would occasionally slow down and act really really bad.

With that said – What version of Ubuntu would run best on a PC with the following specs.

1.8ghz Sempron
512mb ddr ram

I have a dell dimension 4600 using ubuntu as its os. It only has 1gb of ram. I want to add 3 more gigs. Is there a max limit of ram for ubuntu?If so am I under it?
The max it could take is 4 gb. It takes 1gb per slot and has 4 slots. Im using the 4gb for gaming.The only reason i asked because windows xp/vista 36bit could only read up to 4gb anything pass 4gb would not work. So im asking how much linux could read.
Im not buying 4 gbs im buying 3gb. Remember i said i already have 1 gb. I could buy 3gb for around 150dollars 50 per gb.

I have dell inspiron 1525 laptop, it has Ubuntu installed on it. When I try to install Windows XP, it gives an error message “No Harddrive found” please help to resolve this problem.

I have a Dell Inspiron B130, 512 ram, 80 gig HDD.
Intel pro/wireless 2915ABG network connection.
Broadcom 400x/100 integrated controller
Current OS is Windows xp.
Just wondering if Ubuntu 7.10 would work with my wireless card or not.

I’ve decided to switch back to Windows ME (I know, I know). Anyways, when I load the Windows disks it appears to load and everything, but when I start it it takes me back to Ubuntu…very frustrating. Is there something with formatting that I need to do?

How do I format the drive?

I mean to make things simle you need a Windows OS on the system already to run the installation wizard right? So why would you really go to the effort of running another OS?

I have a gateway with 80Gb Hard drive, has 512 Mb Ram and it has a Pentium 4 processor. I tried installing it ,but the download would stop at 82%. I tried doing another CD and it happened again. What should i do?
