I have an Ubuntu Live CD that I used with instructions from a YouTube video. I am confident this works, but when I try to boot my computer with this CD, Ubuntu does not run, but instead it runs dos. What is the problem and how can I fix it?
Everytime I download sompthing in Ubuntu it dosent work. How do I get it to?
Such as yahoo messenger (for linux)
Adobe flash player (for linux)
And most stuff.
I’m planning on trying a different OS besides Windows and I’m currently downloading Ubuntu Ultimate 1.4 because I know that it’s the only OS out there that is PC and MAC systems compatible, but it’s a direct iso image and the provider doesn’t include a read me file or something like that. I’m worried that I might never be able to install it if it asks for a cd key or something like that.

I decided to give ubuntu a try,so I install it but I find out ubuntu didn’t detect my usb modem.I am using a tenten E220 usb modem.
I need to access to my usb modem to connect to internet everytime.

I have installed Ubuntu (Gutsy Gibbon) and have the desktop and GDM login screen with nice dark themes but in between the login and the desktop loading the screen is the standard Ubuntu pink/orange/tan color and it really bugs me. How do I change the color of that background?

I am running Vista Basic and Ubuntu 7.10 on the same hard drive. How do i remove/delete the windows partition using Ubuntu?
I’m thinking about downloading it and am wondering if it takes up a lot of space. Also, is there an easy way to uninstall it? I have windows vista. Can i uninstall it on the vista os?

I was upgrading ubuntu 7.04 to 7.10 before updating from update manager. In the middle the comp hung up and I had to restart. now it shows the old version but update manager is not working.
