Hi, I am using Ubuntu Hardy Heron. When I look under hardware drivers it lists ATI accelerated graphics driver and says not in use. My question is, what video driver is Ubuntu using in that case? And if I get the a supported video card will there be an improvement in the graphics quality? Thanks…

Right now I have 1 hard drive with two seperate partitions “C” and “D” I have windows installed onto partition C. I’d Like to install Ubuntu onto partition D which is currently empty and not formatted. How can I install Ubuntu onto D leaving my windows partition untouched?

I made a partition using bootcamp and I booted the ubuntu 8.10 live cd. When I get to the partition part in the installation, it says it might delete the windows boot loader. Does linux think that this is the windows boot loader but it actually is the mac boot loader or am I doing everything right?
It asks me to select a location near me, and they are all like….. Colleges that are far away from me… I live in Chicago.
Can I just pick any location?
That’s annoying because now I am trying to install a few packages and a “SU” password is required. The installation only ask to setup a user name and password.Any idea how I can setup a root password now that Ubuntu is installed?

I have vista, i installed ubuntu on it. So whenever my comp starts up it goes to the thingy that ubuntu installed so i can select what os i want to use. If i also installed kalyway on another partition will kalyway show up under the list of what os i want to start up with. Will there be nay problems
