Ever since I converted from Windows to Ubuntu, one of the biggest obstacles to a full conversion is the EXTREME slowness of firefox, especially when switching between tabs with Web 2.0 content. As such, I often run Opera on Ubuntu and sometimes go back to Windows as much as I hate it.
Does anyone know if these problems will be fixed in Firefox 3?
Im trying to install Linksys wireless adaptor on my desk top so i do not have internet. when I put the disk in it comes up on file browser not the Linksys installation wizard.
what am I doing wrong.

I refer to blogs such as this http://linuxhaters.blogspot.com/2008/06/evolution-of-ubuntu-user.html unfortunately it contains language that some may find offensive. But my question is what makes some people despise this fine distro. so much. Has it become too popular so some Linux users can no longer consider themselves members of an elitist club. Whats the problem with some in the Linux community as the likes of Ubuntu are catching on as mainstream players. Your thoughts.

I am brand new to Linux; I have it booting from my external USB hard drive. I see places to change settings (theme, time, etc.) but there isn’t really an equivalent of the “Apply” button, and when I close the windows, the changes aren’t saved…
What am I doing wrong?

Hello. I was thinking about downloading Linux to dual boot on my XP (if I’m correct by saying dual booting is having both on one system and choosing which one to boot at startup), but all I find is stuff on Ubuntu. I’m probably just a loser who doesn’t know what they really are but if you could tell me, I would be very appreciative.
The computer automatically connects but doesn’t ask me to enter the password (which the connection requires on a Mac or Windows). So even though i’m connected, I can’t access the internet. Where and how do I enter the password?

Ok, i have an hp pavilion laptop. It came with Vista, and I just recently installed Ubuntu to dual boot with Vista. The wireless connection switch is on and working with vista, but with Ubuntu, it is off even when I switch it to the on side. I’d really like it if you could help me out so that I can use the internet on the Ubuntu browser!
