Just anything i need to know about Ubuntu

I was told on y!a that I should install Ubuntu on my windows 98, so I did..and then it asked me what I should run the program with and usually that means there is something missing, how do i correct this?

I just formated a partition on my laptop with the latest version of ubuntu. I am new to linux so I am not 100% certain what I am doing. How would I go about getting my laptop on my network?

I had Ubuntu. Only Ubuntu, not a dual boot or anything like that, it originally had XP, so I put in the recovery CD, and it seemed to work. But then when it restarted, it said “Invalid Partition” so now XP won’t open up.
I’m currently running my computer off the live CD, so what should I do? Install Ubuntu and then what? Or am I doing something wrong?

I cannot put my ubuntu computer into sleep mode. I have an hp s7627c slimline (desktop) and i installed ubuntu by using the wubi installer.

I’m thinking of installing either 8.10 when it is released

I’m wanting to install Ubuntu so my comp will be a dual boot, but I also want to know an escape route for my computer if i don’t like Ubuntu, besides just deleting everything from my hard drive. Thanks for the answers!

ok, i cant use wireless on my laptop with ubuntu, i have to install some things, so i connected my Ethernet cord to it. ubuntu said “wired network connection”, like it was connected, but i cant get on any websites.

Im VERY new to ubuntu.

What do i need to do?

I know bluetooth is popular but most computers i know of don’t come with a bluetooth adapter installed. SO why are there a whole bunch of included programs and services for bluetooth?

I sold my laptop and need to remove ubuntu. How do I do this?
linux is the only operating system.
